May is Better Hearing & Speech Month (BHSM), and the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) designated this year’s theme as “Communication at Work.” BHSM was founded in 1927 by ASHA to raise awareness and promote understanding of hearing health and communication disorders.
This month provides a unique opportunity to get involved and connect with others about these important issues. Now that we are physically separated from each other and our students and clients, communication matters more than ever. ASHA offers a variety of resources for this campaign held each May. Get inspired to join our mission to spread awareness about hearing and speech! To view available resources, please visit: www.asha.org/bhsm.
“The most important thing in communication is hearing what isn’t being said.”-Peter Drucker
EBS wanted to take this opportunity to shine a bright light on the power of communication. Communication is what makes us feel connected with one another. It is our foundation for human interaction. It is what keeps us going during this time of social isolation.
To celebrate BHSM, EBS’s SLP Leadership Team put together a video to share the power of communication and connection-from their homes to yours.
To all Speech-Language Pathologists and Audiologists: Happy Better Hearing and Speech Month! This May and throughout the year we celebrate YOU! Every day you show us how the smallest changes can make the biggest impact in someone’s life. Thank you for all that you do!
